Save/Better your Gas Mileage by 10 - 20% by Breaking Habits
1.) Go the speed limit when in city
Driving the speed limit keeps your RPM’s low, thus improving gas usage (the large numbers on your dash, 1,000 - 2,000 - 3,000 - 4,000, and so on). The higher those numbers go, the more your engine is working. Which is causing an increase of gas input and output. Keep your RPMs low, and keep a steady foot on the gas. This is my rule of thumb: the more you push on that gas peddle, the more money comes out of your pocket.
2.) Traveling at high speeds
When you are on the highway, roll up your windows. This allows your car to have better aerodynamics. Allowing air to flow on all sides of the car uninterrupted.
3.) When in traffic
It is best to avoid traffic altogether by driving early in the morning, noon, or late at night. Know when traffic happens and where. Do not stop and go by slamming your accelerator down and brake soon after. Allow your car to glide to a stop verses a quick stop. This will save a tremendous amount of gas!
4.) Make sure you
Have everything that you want to take with you, before you leave your house. This will help you cut time and gas. When warming up my car, I mentally go through a check list before I leave.
5.) Watch the news / stock market
Make your way over to, www.GasBuddy.com and get detailed reports of gas prices in your area. Check it out, it is very useful.
Drive safe out there and save some extra money!
